PLATFORM HIP HOP FESTIVAL

Nick Power (aka BBoy Rely) has once again pulled off an incredible move.. the PLATFORM HIP HOP FESTIVAL 4!

4 weeks of shows, workshops, demonstration, performances, competitions and screenings, all taking place in Sydneys' Carriageworks.

I've been invited to screen and discuss "Paint the Town Red", a new film about the infamous HKC graffiti crew. If you're in Sydney Friday 1st April (no jokes) I'd love to see you there. It's FREE so no excuses!

DRAMAS

omigosh! it's been over a month since the last 'update'. geez.. i can now proudly say that i have finished the 'greentree acting school' project AND i have a couple of cute music videos in the pipeline PLUS a little mini doco on a very talented lady.

but first, the greentree experience..
this was one of those projects you do for the love. it was the biggest project i have ever undertaken and it is probably something i will never ever attempt again. it screened at the ACMI cinemas last Tuesday 14th Dec and from what I hear, the 450 people in attendance loved it. Thanks goodness.

HEADACHES and FRIENDLY ADVICE

way too many headaches to blog about... seriously though, never ever do anything ever.

i have learned some valuable lessons over the past month, and these are:
1) never do a job for cheap - the client will not value your work, they will make heaps of changes, and they will want you to teach them how to do your job (because it looks so easy.)
2) never help people who never help you (no brainer really)
3) just never leave the house really.

please continue holding your breath for another update.. it's gonna be a while. maybe CLICK HERE instead for some no-dogs-just-bitches funtimes or HERE for the ONE FIVE FACTION.

SPRING THINGS

".. turn the suck down! you've got the suck knob all the way up.." -- fubar
seriously. i'm way ready for some spring time blossum followed immediately by some summer time fun.

but now for that all important update you've been waiting for!

the animation project i've been working on with the kids from Footscray Primary School has been a total hoot. The only downfall was when the principal told me AFTER the 4 week program that any movie with guns and violence would not be allowed to screen at the whole school assembly. UGH! I think there's only 3 films that do not contain violence. take a look for yourself. remember these kids are aged between 10-12 and most had never used iMovie let alone an overhead projector!

the Greentree Acting School short films production has finally finished the 'shooting' phase. i snapped off a couple in between breaks. the kids were really fun to work with and their excitement at being in front of a camera was super refreshing. now all i have to do is capture 12 hours of footage and edit it down to 1.5 hours. piece of cake. (argh!!)

1 of 22 greenscreen shoots

so.. where does that light go again?

a good friend of mine, Bindi Cole, is gallivanting around the country making, exhibiting and talking about art. here's a few phone photos she sent me of some work being screened in Sydney at the Australian Centre for Photography..

NEW DEVELOPMENTS

whoa there! it's been a minute since i last posted, (luckily no-one's watching..)

i've got a bunch of stuff on the boil:

--> i'm teaching a 4 week video production / animation mini-course at Footscray Primary School. between 15-20 kids (aged between 8-10) rock up each week and we have lots of fun with cellophane, cut outs, an overhead projector, cameras and iMovie. they've been really inspiring in what they make and how they construct their stories. i'll upload the final movies when they're completed.

--> making 24 short films for the Green Tree Acting School. One shoot down and six to go! 22 of the 24 films are green screen which is always super fun. I'll be sure to post the official invite as they'll bee screening early December at ACMI.

--> new warehouse space "ONE FIVE FACTION" featuring a bunch of artist studios and gallery. exciting much? i'm so committed to being broke for at least the next 12 months if not longer. i'll be sure to keep you in loop on all things of the faction nature.

--> back at uni. yep. mature aged perpetual student all up in your prahran campus face! (young ladies, please please please stop wearing leggings instead of pants and maybe try brushing your hair before you leave the house. thanks.) i really love learning new programs and techniques. multimedia is defo what i'm spose to be dewin.

ok ok, i won't bore you any more.
